We (An Anthem) is the final song on the album and it's one of my favorites and apparently yours too as it's the most streamed after "Just Breathe." It brings together 7 women from all walks of life to join our voices together in inspiration. It was both fun and chaotic, with only two of us ever having been in a recording studio. We miraculously laid the vocals in 3 hours, which is impressive given the jitters! Check out the vocalists below who helped make this happen.
Dalyce Courts
Dalyce Courts (pronounced "Dallas") is the voice behind verse three, declaring, "we got the whole world shook!" A singer-songwriter who's been making music since before she could talk, Dalyce originally entered the scene as a rapper before evolving into a genre-blending artist known for emotional depth and honest
storytelling. She was the one who first introduced me to the studio, teaching me not only the mechanics of recording but also how to trust the creative process. When she's not writing or recording, Dalyce works in biotech in the Seattle area-proof that creativity and science can coexist. Her music explores themes of heartbreak, resilience, and feeling out of place, and is available on all streaming platforms. Her latest release can be found here.
Deborah
Deborah is the voice behind the call to action in the song. "Let my sisters say!" While this was her first time in
the studio, she was in the church choir growing up and comes from a family that loves to sing! With a passion for service, she leads efforts in her community to provide support and resources for those navigating food insecurity, homelessness, and disenfranchisement. Deborah is a mother of 4 and married for more than two decades and resides in South Carolina. She is also a lifelong learner and is currently working on her credentials in American Sign Language.
Gem
Gem steals the show with her joyous laughter as the fine point at the end of the
song. Her laughter is always contagious, including in the studio, and was too good
to not infuse into a project that was challenging and yet enjoyable. When the sound engineer caught her laughter, we knew it was gold. That joy and light is something Gem brings in her daily life as a customer service expert ensuring the healthcare needs of her community are being met. She is also a step fitness extraordinaire and resides in Tacoma, WA.
Jinji Amen
Jinji Amen is a model, actress, aquatic expert, business owner, and financial phenom! She is the voice of the 2nd verse reminding you all that "we know that we slay!" While she has many years of performance under her belt, this was her first time in the studio and she did indeed slay! Jinji is a multi-faceted Renaissance woman. Whether it's through her performances or teaching water safety or her passion to help people with their financial planning, she is doing her part to ensure her community has generational health, wealth, and well-being. Jinji resides in Seattle, WA and owns an event photography business with her partner.
Lex
Lex is one of the major voices behind the harmonies in the song and provides the power behind many of the sustained notes. She brings a soulful, church choir warmth to her performance. While she is a lifelong singer, this was her first time in the recording booth. Beyond the mic, Lex is a champion for students, deeply committed to transformative development experiences. A gifted graphic designer and event visionary, she has a knack for turning ordinary moments into unforgettable ones.
Vané
Vané is one of the major voices behind the harmonies throughout the song, despite this being her first time in the studio.
However, she is no stranger to music as she is a long-time certified dance fitness instructor and choreographer. She's also a certified baddie, raising her almost one year-old in Tacoma, WA while guiding her financial institution to the finish line to close on commercial lending deals.
And Me!!! Crowns up!
